The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Consultant, with a passion for modern HR, to join our HR Services team at Ultimo, part of IFS. This is an operational/tactical role with a strong focus on payroll accuracy, efficient processes, and delivering high-quality HR support.

As one of our key team members, you’ll be responsible for making sure payroll runs smoothly across multiple countries, handling day-to-day HR matters with confidence, and supporting our business with pragmatic, reliable HR solutions. You’ll report directly to the Head of HR Services.

This is a role for someone who’s been around the block in HR, thrives in a fast-paced, international environment, and brings a no-nonsense, can-do mindset to the table.

What You’ll Do

  • Take ownership of international payroll and HR services: accurate, timely, and fully aligned with HR data and local requirements

  • Be a go-to sparring partner for managers and employees on all operational HR matters

  • Answer questions on contracts, policies, absences, onboarding/offboarding, and more

  • Drive process improvements and automation to make our HR operations more efficient and scalable

  • Support the implementation of our next-gen HR system (key user role)

  • Collaborate with Finance and external payroll providers

  • Ensure compliance with employment law, audit standards, and company policies

  • Monitor and analyse HR data for reporting (weekly, monthly, ESG)

  • Contribute to projects like policy updates, system transitions, and international HR harmonization

Job requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on HR experience, including 3+ years in HR operations and proven international payroll experience (Netherlands + at least one of: Germany, France, Sweden)

  • Solid knowledge of HR processes and employment law across countries

  • You’re thorough and curious, you dig deeper to understand the real question, while keeping things moving and focused

  • Strong eye for detail, you take pride in error-free payroll and clean employee data

  • Experienced with HR systems and payroll software; system migration experience is a plus

  • Comfortable working with data (Excel/Power BI) and reporting

  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong plus

  • Flexible, stress-resistant, full-time available, and always ready to jump in where needed

  • A real team player who knows when to take initiative and when to collaborate

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, or similar through work experience

  • HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PDL) are a bonus

  • Experience in international and/or matrixed organizations

  • Comfortable working in a hybrid, international team setup
